Shakyamuni Buddha
Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, is the historical Buddha and the founder of Buddhism. Born in the 5th century BCE in Lumbini (modern-day Nepal), he was a prince who renounced his royal life to seek the truth of human suffering. After years of meditation and ascetic practices, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, India. He became known as "Shakyamuni," meaning "Sage of the Shakya clan," and his teachings form the foundation of Buddhism. Shakyamuni Buddha is revered for his compassion, wisdom, and as a beacon of hope, offering the path to liberation from suffering through the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path.
