Embodying Infinite Compassion in the Heart of Enlightenment
Chenrezig, also known as Avalokiteshvara, is one of the most revered bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism, embodying the boundless compassion of all Buddhas. Chenrezig is typically portrayed as a compassionate and serene figure, often depicted seated in the full lotus position upon a lotus throne. Chenrezig is commonly depicted with four arms, each holding symbolic implements representing his compassionate activity. In his main hands, he holds a crystal mala (rosary), symbolizing the continuous recitation of the mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum," which is associated with Chenrezig and embodies the essence of compassion. In his other hands, he may hold a lotus flower, symbolizing purity, and a wish-fulfilling jewel, symbolizing the fulfillment of all wishes for sentient beings.
