About Mahakala Bernagchen

Mahakala Bernagchen, revered as a fierce protector deity in Tibetan Buddhism, serves as the guardian of the Karma Kagyu lineage and embodies the uncompromising force of enlightened compassion that destroys obstacles and negative influences. His powerful black form, three glaring eyes, and crown of skulls symbolize his ability to see through illusion and overcome the forces that hinder spiritual awakening. His wrathful appearance represents not ordinary anger but the profound wisdom and fierce compassion that protect practitioners from suffering and guide them toward enlightenment. His protective energy is invoked through the sacred mantra “Om Shri Mahakala Yak Gya Be Ta Li Hum Dza”, which devotees recite to seek spiritual protection, overcome obstacles, and strengthen their resolve on the path toward awakening.
