Green Tara

Green Tara, also known as Shyama Tara or the Green Liberator, is a revered female Buddha in Tibetan Buddhism who embodies active compassion as well as swift protection and spiritual liberation. Her vibrant green color symbolizes vitality and nature, and it also represents the energy of compassionate action. Her posture, with one leg folded in meditation while the other is extended, reflects her readiness to help those in need. She is often invoked through her powerful mantra, which is Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha, and this is chanted to remove obstacles, promote healing, and empower spiritual growth. Green Tara’s hand gestures include the Varada Mudra, which is the gesture of giving, and the Abhaya Mudra, which is the gesture of protection. These gestures symbolize her generosity and fearlessness, and they also express her promise to aid all beings. As the Mother of All Buddhas, she is believed to offer liberation from the Eight Great Fears, which include both external dangers and internal afflictions such as pride, ignorance, and attachment.
