About Jigje Chenmo

Jigje Chenmo, known as the Great Terrifying Lady, is the sixth manifestation among the Twenty-One Taras revered in Tibetan Buddhism. She is honored for her fierce enlightened activity, which subdues negative forces and protects beings from inner and outer obstacles. Depicted in a wrathful, dark-red form, with an indestructible phurba (ritual dagger) resting upon an utpala lotus, Jigje Chenmo symbolizes the powerful wisdom that cuts through negativity and overcomes harmful influences. Devotional and meditative practices often include the recitation of her sacred mantra “Om Tare Tuttare Ture Sarva Bighnen Bam Hung Phat Svaha”, which is traditionally invoked for protection and the removal of obstacles.
