Tibetan Throne in Gold-Plated Copper | Nepalese Sacred Artwork

Bring grace to your home altar or shrine room with this Tibetan Throne, handcrafted by skilled Newari artisans in Patan, Nepal. This sacred throne is designed for Vajrayana deities and is made from copper with a radiant gold-plated finish, richly decorated with carefully set semi-precious stones. The tall arched frame features detailed hand-hammered repoussé work, with flowing lotus scrolls and spiral vine patterns extending along both pillars. A Garuda with outstretched wings crowns the top, while a celestial attendant figure stands on each side of the upper arch.

A ring of turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli stones surrounds the teardrop-shaped upper panel, while a second stone-studded border frames the large arched panel below. Decorative scroll arms extend gracefully from both sides, and lion-like guardian figures rest on lotus bases at the lower corners. A panel engraved with sacred Buddhist mantras runs across the base, completing this elaborate Buddhist throne with layers of symbolic imagery and traditional Himalayan craftsmanship.

This Tibetan Throne offers a sturdy and well-balanced setting for Buddhist statues up to 20cm to 22cm tall. Its substantial construction provides a stable presentation for sacred figures while adding an elegant focal point to a Buddhist altar, shrine, or meditation space. It also makes a meaningful gift for Buddhist practitioners, collectors, and anyone who appreciates authentic Himalayan craftsmanship.

About Buddhist Throne

Buddhist Throne is an elevated seat used both for high lamas or revered teachers during teachings and ceremonies, and for placing sacred statues of enlightened beings at the center of a shrine or temple space. It clearly shows who or what is the main focus of respect, making the teacher or statue easy to see and honor. Spiritually, the throne represents the seat of enlightenment, recalling the Buddha’s awakening under the Bodhi tree, and by raising the figure above the ordinary level, it expresses reverence for wisdom, compassion, and the Dharma. In this way, a Buddhist throne helps organize the sacred space while reminding practitioners to uplift their own mind and aspire toward enlightenment.
