Vajrapani Statue - Bodhisattva of Strength | 24K Gold Fire-Gilded Copper Figurine

This handcrafted Vajrapani statue is made in Nepal by Newari artisans using the lost-wax casting technique. It is cast in solid copper and enhanced with layers of gold fire-gilding. The gold-painted face has finely detailed eyes while every fold of the robes is hand-chased with intricate engraving and set with semi-precious stones. Standing upon lotus pedestal, this Nepalese Buddhist statue reflects the living legacy of Newari metalwork.

Vajrapani (Chana Dorje), the Bodhisattva of Strength is shown in his fierce guardian form, symbolizing the indestructible power of enlightened wisdom that dispels negativity and obstacles. His wrathful expression, marked by fiery eyebrows and a five-skull diadem, represents the transformation of ignorance into wisdom. He holds a Vajra thunderbolt in his raised right hand and a lasso in his left to subdue harmful forces, all framed by a halo. This Vajrapani sculpture is a powerful centerpiece for any home altar or Buddhist art collection.

About Vajrapani

Vajrapani, whose name means “Holder of the Thunderbolt,” is one of the earliest and most powerful bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism. He represents the spiritual strength and protective power of all Buddhas, standing alongside Avalokiteśvara and Mañjuśrī (wisdom) as part of a sacred triad. Vajrapāṇi is often depicted in a wrathful form, with a muscular body, fierce expression, and surrounded by flames, symbolizing his ability to destroy ignorance and obstacles on the path to enlightenment. He is also known as the “Lord of Secrets” for his role in transmitting tantric teachings to humanity. His mantra "Om Vajrapāṇi Hūṃ Phaṭ" is chanted to invoke courage and cultivate inner strength.
