Description

Handcrafted Manjushri Statue for Wisdom & Learning | Made in Nepal

This Manjushri statue is handcrafted by Newari artisans in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal. Cast in solid copper using the metal casting technique, it is illuminated with 24K gold fire-gilding that gives the surface a warm glow. The finely gold-painted face wears a gently smiling expression, while hand-carved detailing covers the crown, jewelry and robes. The statue rests on a lotus pedestal with traditional leaf motifs, a fine example of the metalworking skill passed down through generations of Nepalese craftsmen.

Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom sits in serene royal ease upon a lotus throne. His raised right hand wields a flaming sword that cuts through the veils of ignorance while his left hand rests at his chest in Vitarka mudra and holds stem of a blossoming lotus. The flower unfolds at his shoulder and supports the Prajnaparamita Sutra, the scripture of perfect wisdom. Adorned with an ornate five-point crown and layered jewelry, he embodies clarity and insight that lead to true awakening. The base is engraved with a dharma wheel flanked by two deer, a reference to the Buddha’s first sermon at Sarnath. It makes a striking centerpiece for meditation spaces and collectors of Himalayan art.
