Authentic Vajrapani Meditation Statue | Handcrafted Buddhist Altarpiece

Embody fearless protective power with this Tibetan Vajrapani statue from Nepal, handcrafted by Newari artisans in Patan using traditional metal casting method. Cast in copper and enhanced with gold fire-gilding, the statue is hand-painted with vivid detail across the flaming halo. Chana Dorje's fierce expression is captured in every line, from his red-hued eyebrows and beard to prominent third eye, beneath a five-skull diadem and a flaming hair.

Revered as the Holder of the Thunderbolt, Vajrapani is shown here in a dynamic wrathful stance upon a lotus seat, raising a vajra in one hand and holding a lasso in the other. His tiger skin garment and floating robe convey movement and spiritual authority, while the blazing halo behind him radiates divine energy. Devotees invoke Vajrapani to remove obstacles and strengthen spiritual discipline on the path to enlightenment. This Buddhist altarpiece is a meaningful centerpiece for any meditation space or collection of Himalayan art.

About Vajrapani

Vajrapani, whose name means “Holder of the Thunderbolt,” is one of the earliest and most powerful bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism. He represents the spiritual strength and protective power of all Buddhas, standing alongside Avalokiteśvara and Mañjuśrī (wisdom) as part of a sacred triad. Vajrapāṇi is often depicted in a wrathful form, with a muscular body, fierce expression, and surrounded by flames, symbolizing his ability to destroy ignorance and obstacles on the path to enlightenment. He is also known as the “Lord of Secrets” for his role in transmitting tantric teachings to humanity. His mantra "Om Vajrapāṇi Hūṃ Phaṭ" is chanted to invoke courage and cultivate inner strength.
