Description

Vajrapani Ghau Mala | Wrathful Bodhisattva of Sacred Power

This Vajrapani Ghau Mala is a handcrafted Tibetan prayer box necklace, made in Nepal by a Newari master artist using metalworking techniques. The ghau is formed from durable copper alloy, then layered with gold gilding and fine filigree patterns. A border of richly colored gemstone settings frames each deity, and the hinged design opens to reveal a sacred inner side. Worn as a locket on its golden cord, it works as both a devotional object and a distinctive piece of jewelry.

The ghau features a dual deity icon. On the outer side, Vajrapani is carved from blue lapis lazuli, shown in his wrathful form with the vajra raised. As the Bodhisattva of Sacred Power, he embodies the strength of all the Buddhas and protects the practitioner from obstacles. Inside, Vajrayogini is carved from coral, representing the transformation of passion into awakened wisdom. Together, the two deities unite power and wisdom, making this protection amulet a meaningful companion for daily practice, travel or a thoughtful spiritual gift.

About Ghau Box

A Ghau is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist amulet box and portable shrine, commonly worn around the neck or carried during travel and pilgrimage. Traditionally made from metals such as silver, copper, or brass and often decorated with coral, turquoise, repoussé work, and auspicious Buddhist motifs, a Ghau is designed to hold sacred contents such as miniature Buddha or deity images, mantras, prayers, relics, consecrated substances, or other blessed objects. Rather than being simply a decorative pendant, the Ghau serves as a personal devotional container, allowing sacred objects to remain close to the wearer and symbolically providing protection and spiritual connection during daily life, travel, and religious practice.
