Karmapa Meditation Statue | Sacred Tibetan Buddhist Artwork

Bring the revered presence of the Karmapa into your sacred space with this beautifully handcrafted statue, created by skilled Newari artisans from Patan, Nepal. Traditionally crafted from durable copper, this Karmapa statue is available with an oxidized silver-plated finish and features a finely gold-painted face that highlights the serene dignity of the enlightened master.

Depicted seated gracefully upon a pedestal, the Karmapa wears the characteristic black ritual crown associated with the Karmapa lineage and hand carved floral motif robe holds his hands in a devotional gesture, reflecting his role as a revered master of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Intricate detailing throughout the robes, crown, and pedestal reflects the generations-old craftsmanship of Nepalese metal sculpting.

Devotees seek the Karmapa as a source of spiritual guidance, inspiration, compassion and devotion, especially within the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Placing a Karmapa statue on a Buddhist altar, meditation space, shrine or Dharma center can serve as a meaningful reminder of the guru-disciple relationship, dedicated practice and the pursuit of awakening. This sacred Buddhist statue is ideal for practitioners who wish to honor the Karmapa lineage while creating an atmosphere conducive to meditation, contemplation, prayer, and spiritual practice.

About 1st Karmapa Dusum Khyenpa

Dusum Khyenpa (1110–1193) was the First Karmapa and the founder of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in eastern Tibet, Dusum Khyenpa showed deep spiritual inclination from an early age and devoted life to the study and practice of Dharma. Dusum Khyenpa later became a principal disciple of the great Kagyu master Gampopa, receiving profound teachings on meditation and Mahamudra. Through extensive practice, realization, and teaching, Dusum Khyenpa established important monasteries, including Karma Gon Monastery, which became a central seat of the Karma Kagyu tradition. Revered for extraordinary spiritual insight and compassion, Dusum Khyenpa also left prophetic instructions that led to the recognition of future incarnations, establishing the Karmapa lineage as the earliest system of consciously recognized reincarnate lamas (tulkus) in Tibetan Buddhism. The teachings and accomplishments of Dusum Khyenpa continue to inspire practitioners, emphasizing meditation, direct realization, and the living transmission of the Kagyu lineage.
