About Second Karmapa

The Second Gyalwa Karmapa was Karma Pakshi, recognized as the reincarnation of the First Karmapa, Dusum Khyenpa, and regarded as one of the most influential masters of the Karma Kagyu lineage. From a very young age, Karma Pakshi revealed extraordinary spiritual qualities, displaying a deep understanding of Dharma philosophy and meditation. The spiritual lineage of the Karma Kagyu tradition had been entrusted by Drogon Rechen, the principal disciple of Dusum Khyenpa, to the great master Pomdrakpa, who became the young Karma Pakshi’s teacher. Through profound meditative insight and a series of clear spiritual visions, Pomdrakpa realized that the child under guidance was indeed the rebirth foretold by Dusum Khyenpa in a prophetic letter sent to Drogon Rechen. This recognition established Karma Pakshi as the Second Karmapa, continuing the sacred lineage and spreading the teachings of compassion, wisdom, and meditation across Tibet.
