Siddhartha Gautama

Siddhartha Gautama, known as the Shakyamuni Buddha, was raised as a prince in the royal Shakya Kingdom, as per the wishes of his father. At the age of 29, upon witnessing the immense suffering of humanity, he renounced his life of luxury, wealth, and privilege. In search of the cause of suffering and its cure, Shakyamuni Buddha embarked on a profound journey of self-denial and meditation. After six years of intense study and spiritual practices, he attained enlightenment and became the Buddha. Shakyamuni Buddha then proclaimed his realization of nirvana and went to the Deer Park in Sarnath, near Varanasi, India, where he shared his teachings with the first disciples, laying the foundation for the Buddhist path to liberation from suffering.
