Guru Rinpoche

Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, meaning “Lotus-Born,” is one of the most revered figures in Tibetan Buddhism. Believed to have miraculously appeared from a blooming lotus in Lake Dhanakosha, Guru Rinpoche was not born of a womb but manifested spontaneously as a fully enlightened being, fulfilling a sacred prophecy of Shakyamuni Buddha. He is often called the “Second Buddha” because of his pivotal role in spreading Vajrayana Buddhism throughout the Himalayas, especially in Tibet, Bhutan, and Nepal.

Guru Rinpoche’s arrival in Tibet marked a spiritual revolution. He subdued negative forces and spiritual obstacles that blocked the spread of Dharma and established Tibet’s first monastery, Samye, in the 8th century. Through his profound teachings and mystical powers, he introduced advanced tantric practices, enabling countless beings to attain spiritual realization.
