About Chenrezig

Chenrezig, known in Sanskrit as Avalokiteshvara, is the Bodhisattva of Compassion and one of the most revered figures in Tibetan Buddhism. His name means “the one who looks with compassionate eyes,” symbolizing his unwavering gaze upon all sentient beings with boundless loving-kindness. Often depicted in his four-armed form, Chenrezig holds a lotus flower, a crystal mala, and a wish-fulfilling jewel, each representing aspects of wisdom, liberation, and compassionate intention. His mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum, is a powerful invocation of spiritual transformation, embodying the union of method and wisdom. Chenrezig is considered the patron deity of Tibet, and many Tibetan leaders, including the Dalai Lama, are believed to be his emanations. Through visualization practices, devotees connect with Chenrezig qualities, aiming to awaken their own Buddha nature and cultivate equanimity, joy, and empathy.
