Buddhist Vajrapani Statue - Handcrafted Fierce Bodhisattva Figurine

This handcrafted Vajrapani statue portrays Chana Dorje, the fierce Bodhisattva and Dharma protector who embodies the unstoppable power of enlightened energy. He stands firmly on a lotus seat, holding a vajra in one hand and a lasso in the other, while swirling garments and a serpent coiled around his body add to his wrathful presence. A skull crown with layered patterns connects to ornate earrings that frame his piercing eyes and vicious expression. Red eyebrows, mustache and beard contrast with the gold-painted face, where a third eye symbolizes awakened awareness.

Created by master artisans of Kathmandu Valley, this Buddhist sculpture is first hand-carved in wax, then cast in solid copper through lost-wax process. The figure is layered with 24K gold fire-gilding. Meticulous repoussé and hand-chasing give the garments a lifelike drape. Turquoise and coral inlay adds vivid color against the gilded surface, reflecting the refined heritage of Newar sacred art.

Please note: The statue in the photograph is the actual piece for sale, ensuring authenticity and exclusivity.

About Vajrapani

Vajrapani, whose name means “Holder of the Thunderbolt,” is one of the earliest and most powerful bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism. He represents the spiritual strength and protective power of all Buddhas, standing alongside Avalokiteshvara and Manjushri (wisdom) as part of a sacred triad. Vajrapāṇi is often depicted in a wrathful form, with a muscular body, fierce expression, and surrounded by flames, symbolizing his ability to destroy ignorance and obstacles on the path to enlightenment. He is also known as the “Lord of Secrets” for his role in transmitting tantric teachings to humanity. His mantra, Om Vajrapāṇi Hūṃ Phaṭ, is chanted to invoke courage and cultivate inner strength.
