About Chenrezig

Chenrezig, also known as Avalokiteshvara, is the Bodhisattva of Compassion in Tibetan Buddhism, revered for his boundless compassion and dedication to relieving the suffering of all beings. Often depicted with multiple arms, each holding symbolic attributes, Chenrezig embodies the ability to aid sentient beings in every direction, while his serene face reflects the inner peace of enlightened awareness. Devotees recite his famous mantra, “Om Mani Padme Hum”, to cultivate compassion and accumulate merit. An interesting story recounts how Chenrezig, moved by the immense suffering of beings, vowed not to rest until all sentient beings were liberated; when he realized the task was overwhelming, his head split into eleven, and Avalokiteshvara’s multiple arms manifested to help countless beings simultaneously, symbolizing his infinite compassion and tireless dedication.
