Shakyamuni Buddha: The Historical Buddha

Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, is the historical founder of Buddhism and one of the most revered spiritual figures in the world. Born over 2,600 years ago in Lumbini, Nepal, as a prince of the Shakya clan, he lived a life of luxury before renouncing worldly pleasures in search of truth and a solution to human suffering. After years of deep meditation and self-discipline, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, India, becoming “Shakyamuni” — the “Sage of the Shakyas.”

Shakyamuni Buddha’s teachings form the foundation of Buddhism. His realization of the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path offered a practical guide for overcoming suffering (dukkha) and achieving liberation (nirvana). He emphasized compassion, mindfulness, ethical conduct, and inner peace as the path to freedom.
