The Tsongkhapa Statue Set | Masterwork Copper & Gold Fire-Gilded Altarpiece

This Exclusive Tsongkhapa statue set is masterwork of Newari metalcraft, shaped in Nepal from solid copper using ancient metal wax casting, a living legacy that gives each figure remarkable depth and presence. Layers of polished 24K gold fire-gilding enrich the surface, while hand-carved robe borders and refined motifs catch the light and serene gold-painted face radiates spiritual grace.

Lama Je Tsongkhapa is seated in meditative stillness on a lotus pedestal, his hands held at the heart in the Dharmachakra mudra of turning the wheel of Dharma. Lotus stems on either side bear the wisdom sword and sacred text. He is joined by his two principal disciples, Gyaltsab Je and Khedrup Je, each with a raised right hand in a gesture of teaching. All three wear the pointed Gelug pandit hat, a symbol of monastic discipline and Yellow Hat lineage.

Tsongkhapa is one of the most revered masters of the Gelug tradition, celebrated for his teachings on Buddhist philosophy and the path to enlightenment. Gyaltsab Je and Khedrup Je preserved and transmitted these teachings, and together the three figures represent the teacher, the teachings and the devoted transmission of the Dharma. Display this gold fire-gilded copper altarpiece on a meditation altar or prayer room as a lasting reminder of compassion and path toward enlightenment.

Je Tsongkhapa, the revered founder of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism, is often depicted alongside his two foremost disciples, Gyaltsab Je and Khedrup Je, forming a sacred triad that symbolizes the unbroken transmission of wisdom. Born in 1357, Tsongkhapa was a brilliant scholar, meditator, and reformer who emphasized the integration of profound philosophical insight with deep meditative practice. His teachings revitalized monastic discipline and clarified the path of sutra and tantra, earning him recognition as an emanation of the Bodhisattva Manjushri. Gyaltsab Je, known for his sharp intellect and deep devotion, succeeded Tsongkhapa as the second abbot of Ganden Monastery.
