Shakyamuni Buddha
Shakyamuni Buddha, born as Siddhartha Gautama, was raised as the crown prince of the Shakya Kingdom, destined to follow his father's path as a mighty ruler. At age 29, deeply moved by witnessing the suffering of humanity, he renounced his royal life, wealth, and luxury to seek the truth behind human anguish and the path to liberation. After six years of intense meditation, ascetic practices, and spiritual seeking, he attained enlightenment (Buddhahood) under the Bodhi tree.
Following his awakening, Shakyamuni Buddha journeyed to Sarnath (near Varanasi), where he delivered his first sermon at the Deer Park, setting in motion the wheel of Dharma. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of Buddhist teachings that would spread wisdom and compassion across the world.
As the historical Buddha, his life story inspires millions to pursue inner peace, mindfulness, and liberation from suffering—the core of Buddhist philosophy.
