Tsiu Marpo Statue | Tsen King & Guardian of Samye Monastery

Handcrafted by Newari artisans in Nepal, this Tsiu Marpo Statue begins with the traditional lost-wax casting technique before being cast in copper for a strong and lasting alloy. Every detail then receives careful 3D hand carving and is finished with a layer of 24K gold fire-gilding along with a gold-painted face that brings life to his wrathful gaze. Seated regally atop his horse and framed by a wisdom flame halo Tsiu Marpo wears full warrior armor and flowing scarves befitting his role as the swift and fearless Tsen King.

In one hand Tsiu Marpo grips a long lasso used to bind and subdue obstructing spirits while his spear pierces the figure beneath his horse symbolizing the conquest of negativity and the obstacles that block the path of Dharma. Revered as chief of the tsen spirits and sworn guardian of Samye Monastery, this statue also known as Chimar channels fierce compassion and unwavering protection. Crafted with authentic Newari artistry it makes a striking and spiritually powerful addition to any home altar or meditation space.
