1000-armed Avalokiteshvara sculpture stands as an extraordinary representation of infinite compassion and protection. With serene grace, Avalokiteshvara is also known as Chenrezig depicted seated in a meditative posture. His central pair of hands is clasped in front of his heart in the gesture of prayer (Anjali Mudra), holding a wish-fulfilling jewel, symbolizing his boundless compassion. According to Buddhist lore, Avalokiteshvara made a vow to liberate all beings from suffering, but upon seeing the vastness of sentient suffering, his body shattered from the strain of his efforts. Out of this compassionate despair, the Buddha Amitabha granted him a new form with 1000 arms and 11 heads, symbolizing his boundless ability to aid all beings. His 1000 arms represent his tireless dedication to protecting all sentient beings, while the eyes on the palms signify his ability to see the suffering in every corner of the world.
