Brahmanrupa Mahakala

Brahmanrupa Mahakala, whose name means “The Great Black One in Brahmanic Form,” is a powerful and wrathful protector deity (dharmapala) in Vajrayana Buddhism. Brahmanrupa Mahakala is often depicted in a fierce form, with a robust body, a wrathful expression, and adorned with bone ornaments, symbolizing his power to subdue negative forces and internal delusions. Legends describe Brahmanrupa Mahakala as an emanation of the bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, serving as a guardian of the Dharma. He is also known as a “Lord of Auspiciousness” for his role in bestowing wealth and facilitating spiritual accomplishments. His mantra, "Om Shri Mahakala Hum Phat", is chanted to invoke protection, overcome fear, and eradicate poverty of both a material and spiritual nature.
