Description

Auspicious Butter Lamp Set | Tibetan Buddhist Ritual Offering Lamps

This exquisite Butter Lamp Set comes as a matched pair of two, each standing 19 cm tall and 11 cm wide. Handcrafted by master Nepalese artisans, each lamp is formed from copper then elevated through two finishing layers: a warm gold gilding that saturates the raised decorative elements and intricate silver-plated filigree. The bowl, stem, and tiered pedestal base are richly adorned with turquoise and coral semi-precious stones. As revealed in the interior detail image, the inner bowl is hand-hammered to a smooth finish, ensuring clean, safe burning of butter or ghee for ritual use.

Each lamp's domed lid is a masterwork in its own, layered with gold filigree garlands and crowned with a flaming jewel finial symbolizing the Three Jewels of Buddha. In Tibetan Buddhist practice, butter lamps are among the most meritorious of all altar offerings. Whether lit during daily puja, celebrations or long-life ceremonies, this magnificent butter lamp set from Nidhiratna brings the full splendor of authentic art to your shrine.

Please note: The Butter Lamp in the photograph is the actual piece for sale, ensuring authenticity and exclusivity.

Butter Lamp Guide

To use the Butter Lamp, simply fill it with your choice of oil: coconut oil, vegetable oil, or traditional yak butter and insert a rolled cotton wick upright through the central hole. In Tibetan Buddhist rituals, lighting the butter lamp is a powerful act of devotion, often performed in large numbers during auspicious occasions such as the full moon day, new moon day, and important spiritual ceremonies. The Buddhist butter lamp is traditionally placed between the fourth and fifth offering bowls in a row of seven offering bowls filled with pure water, positioned before sacred images on the household shrine.
