Green Tara

Green Tara, also known as Arya Tara or The Liberator, is a significant deity in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, symbolizing compassion, protection, and liberation. She is often depicted as a beautiful young woman with a green body, representing action, vitality, and the element of wind. According to Buddhist traditions, Green Tara originated from a tear shed by Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion, and vowed to assist all beings in overcoming fear, suffering, and misfortune.

Revered as the Mother of all Buddhas, Green Tara is known for her ability to respond swiftly to the prayers of those in need. She is often invoked for protection from dangers and obstacles. Typically, she is portrayed in a seated posture, poised to take action, with her right hand in the abhaya mudra (the gesture of fearlessness) and her left hand in the varada mudra (the gesture of giving). Her compassionate gaze embodies her role as a source of ultimate wisdom and healing.
