Buddha Shakyamuni

Buddha Shakyamuni, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, is the historical founder of Buddhism and one of the most influential spiritual teachers in human history. Born around the 5th or 6th century BCE in Lumbini, in present-day Nepal, he was a prince of the Shakya clan who renounced his royal life in search of a path beyond suffering. After years of meditation and spiritual practice, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, India, and became known as “the Buddha,” meaning “the awakened one.” For the next 45 years, he traveled and taught the Dharma, the universal truths of suffering, its causes, and the path to liberation, emphasizing the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path.
