Chenrezig

Chenrezig, known as Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit, is the bodhisattva of compassion and one of the most beloved deities in Tibetan Buddhism. He embodies the infinite mercy of all the Buddhas and is believed to respond to the suffering of sentient beings with boundless empathy and aid. Often depicted with four arms symbolizing his ability to reach out in all directions to help others, Chenrezig holds a crystal mala and a lotus flower, representing purity and the continuous cycle of compassionate action. His mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum, is chanted by millions to cultivate compassion and invoke his blessings. Tibetan tradition holds that the Dalai Lama is an emanation of Chenrezig, further underscoring the deity’s central role in guiding beings toward enlightenment through love and kindness.
