Siddhartha Gautama Buddha

Siddhartha Gautama Buddha, also known as Shakyamuni Buddha, was a spiritual teacher and the founder of Buddhism who lived in ancient India around the 5th to 6th century BCE. Born as a prince in the Shakya clan in present-day Nepal, Siddhartha led a life of luxury until he encountered the realities of aging, illness, and death, which deeply impacted him. Renouncing his royal life in search of truth, he undertook years of meditation and spiritual discipline, eventually attaining enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya. From that moment, he became “The Buddha”—The Awakened One—who had realized the path to liberation from suffering and the endless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth (samsara). His teachings, such as the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, provide a practical guide to achieving inner peace, mindfulness, and freedom from desire.
