About Drogdze Wangmo

Drogdze Wangmo, whose name translates as "the Powerful Friend," is a wrathful female protector deity of Tibetan Buddhism, specifically associated with the "revealed" treasure (terma) teachings of the Nyingma tradition and belonging to the Mindrolling lineage. She guards treasures, often records of earlier teachings, and is not widely worshipped across Tibetan Buddhism as a whole, but remains firmly tied to her specific lineage and practice. Like many such protectors, she is believed to have originally been a fierce spirit who was subdued by great masters like Padmasambhava and bound by oath to serve the altruistic aims of the Buddhist teachings.
