Fasting Shakyamuni Buddha

Fasting Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as the Ascetic Gautama, represents the historical Buddha during his years of extreme austerity and intense meditation. He embodies the virtues of unwavering determination and the profound realization that spiritual liberation requires a balanced "Middle Way" rather than extreme deprivation. Devotees contemplate this form to cultivate mental discipline and the strength to overcome physical and worldly attachments. He is traditionally depicted as emaciated with visible ribs and sunken eyes, symbolizing the triumph of the spirit over bodily desires. The mantra "Om Muni Muni Maha Muniye Soha" is often recited in his presence, invoking the Buddha’s supreme wisdom.
