Guru Rinpoche

Guru Rinpoche, also called Padmasambhava, is a legendary figure in Vajrayana Buddhism who miraculously appeared at the age of eight from a blooming lotus in Lake Dhanakosha, fulfilling the prophecy of Shakyamuni Buddha. Not born through ordinary means, Guru Rinpoche manifested spontaneously, radiating immense wisdom and boundless compassion. Known as the Second Buddha, his arrival marked the foundation of Vajrayana Buddhism, where he played a crucial role in transforming obstacles and guiding sentient beings toward enlightenment. Guru Rinpoche is renowned for subduing powerful demons and spiritual hindrances that blocked the spread of Buddhism. He also established Tibet’s first monastery, Samye, and introduced the sacred tantric practices of Vajrayana, profoundly shaping Tibetan Buddhism and its spiritual heritage.
