Maitreya Buddha

Maitreya Buddha, in Buddhist tradition, is the Future Buddha currently residing as a bodhisattva in the Tushita heaven. It is believed that Maitreya will descend to Earth in a future age to renew the Dharma (Buddhist teachings) once the path of Gautama Buddha has faded. Revered as the earliest bodhisattva to gain a widespread following, Maitreya Buddha is mentioned in Buddhist scriptures dating back to the 3rd century CE. Accepted by all major schools of Buddhism, Maitreya remains the only bodhisattva venerated in Theravada Buddhism, symbolizing hope, loving-kindness, and the promise of spiritual renewal.
