Manjushri

Manjushri, known as the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, is one of the most revered figures in Mahayana Buddhism. His name, derived from Sanskrit, translates to “Beautiful Glory” or “Gentle Glory,” reflecting his embodiment of transcendent wisdom (prajñā) that goes beyond conceptual knowledge. Often depicted as a youthful prince wielding a flaming sword to cut through ignorance and holding a book symbolizing the Perfection of Wisdom sutras, Manjushri is associated with eloquence, poetry, and deep insight. He plays a central role in Tibetan and East Asian Buddhist traditions and is believed to reside on Mount Wutai in China, a sacred site for his worship.
