Description

Green Tara Statue | Hand-Painted Tibetan Artwork from Nepal

The Green Tara statue is made by hand by Newari craftsmen in Patan, Nepal. It is crafted with pure copper using the lost-wax casting technique. The statue is hand-painted with acrylic paints. It is adorned with a five-jewel crown and ornaments. It is adorned with gold accents. Inlaid semi-precious stones enhance its colour and beauty.

Green Tara is seated on a delicately carved lotus throne. Her left leg is in the meditative pose. Her right leg is straight out. This posture is important. It means she is ever ready to go forth in help. She does not wait. As soon as you call, she will start her journey.

She has her right hand in the varada mudra, which means “granting boons”. Her left hand is holding a utpala blue lotus. The lotus symbolises purity and wisdom. With her hands, she is telling you: I bless you. I protect you.

Every Green Tara statue from Nidhiratna holds the sacred traditions of Nepalese artistry. It will radiate love, protection, and blessings. This statue is a blessing to be placed in a meditation room, personal altar, or shrine.

Statue Care Guide

  • Keep it in a glass cabinet to keep it safe from dust, moisture, and injury.

  • Clean with a clean dry cotton cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaning cloths.

  • Don’t handle a lot of gold-plated items. Your skin’s oils can lead to tarnishing.

  • Don’t use steel wool, brushes, or scrubbers. These can scratch and damage the surface.

Who is Green Tara?

Green Tara is the Mother Tara, the Swift Liberator. She is a very popular deity in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. She is the dynamic aspect of compassion. She doesn’t wait to save beings. She responds rapidly, completely, and decisively.

She is said to be born from the Bodhisattva of compassion’s (Avalokiteśvara) tear. She vowed to remain in the world to remove fear and suffering from all. The green colour symbolises life, growth, and the power of compassion in the world.

She has the mantra “Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha”. This mantra is chanted to invoke her protection, bravery, and the ability to overcome obstacles. This is one of the most popular mantras in Tibetan Buddhism. It is also chanted while paying homage to her statue.
