Vajrasattva

Vajrasattva is a central figure in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism who symbolizes purity and spiritual transformation. His name means “Diamond Being” or “Thunderbolt Being,” reflecting his indestructible nature and the clarity of an awakened mind. Vajrasattva is often depicted as a radiant white deity holding a vajra in his right hand and a bell in his left, which represent compassion and wisdom working together. He is especially important in Tibetan Buddhism, where his practice is used to purify negative karma and broken spiritual commitments through the recitation of his Hundred Syllable Mantra. Vajrasattva is considered the ideal guru in Newar Buddhism and plays a key role in esoteric rituals and teachings. His presence offers practitioners a path to inner cleansing and renewal, helping them move forward on the journey toward enlightenment.
