Hayagriva

Hayagriva is a wrathful deity in Tibetan Buddhism, representing a fierce manifestation of Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig), the bodhisattva of compassion. His most distinctive feature is the horse's head atop his own, symbolizing swiftness and power, used to swiftly eliminate obstacles, evil spirits, and ignorance. Hayagriva is revered for his ability to protect practitioners from harm, particularly diseases and negative influences. In Vajrayana practice, he is often depicted in the yab-yum form, in union with his consort, symbolizing the integration of compassion and wisdom. Despite his wrathful appearance, Hayagriva's true intent is to guide beings toward enlightenment through fierce compassion.
