Green Tara (Syamatara)

Green Tara, known as Syamatara in Sanskrit, is one of the most revered deities in Tibetan Buddhism and a beloved embodiment of compassion in action. She is considered the Mother of All Buddhas, representing the swift, active aspect of feminine enlightenment energy. Green Tara is often called upon by practitioners to overcome fear, remove obstacles, and grant protection from physical, emotional, and spiritual dangers.

Depicted with a serene yet alert expression, Green Tara is usually shown seated in lalitasana (royal ease posture) on a blooming lotus, with one leg extended, ready to rise and respond instantly to those in need. Her right hand is in varada mudra, symbolizing generosity and the granting of boons, while her left hand holds a blue utpala lotus in abhaya mudra, representing protection and the promise to guide beings out of suffering.
