Shakyamuni Buddha

Siddhartha Gautama was born the crown prince of the powerful Shakya Kingdom and raised to be a king, fulfilling his royal father’s wishes. At around 29 years old, he became deeply aware of the widespread suffering experienced by people. Determined to understand its cause and find a solution, he renounced his luxurious palace life, fine clothes, and wealth. After more than six years of intense study, self-discipline, and meditation, he finally attained his goal—nirvana, becoming a Buddha. He later shared that he first taught his insights at a deer park near Varanasi, in India’s Sarnath (Benares).
