Shakyamuni Budhha Statue

Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, was born in the 5th century BCE in Lumbini, in present-day Nepal. As the founder of Buddhism, his life story is one of profound transformation and spiritual awakening. Born into a royal family, Siddhartha renounced his princely life in search of enlightenment after witnessing the suffering inherent in human existence. Through years of ascetic practice and deep meditation, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, India, becoming the Buddha, or "the awakened one." His teachings, known as the Dharma, revolve around the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, offering a guide to end suffering and achieve Nirvana.
