Sariputra and Maubgalyayana

Sariputra, one of the Buddha’s foremost disciples, is revered as the first of the two chief disciples alongside Maudgalyāyana. As a pivotal leader in the Buddha’s ministry, Sariputra played a crucial role in shaping Buddhist teachings, especially in the development of the Buddhist Abhidharma. Recognized across many Buddhist traditions, Sariputra is frequently mentioned in Mahayana sutras, where he often represents the Hinayana school of Buddhism. His wisdom and leadership remain central to Buddhist practice, making Sariputra a key figure in the spiritual path of enlightenment.
