Shakyamuni Buddha

Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, is the historical founder of Buddhism and one of the most influential spiritual figures in human history. The name Shakyamuni means “Sage of the Shakyas,” referring to the Shakya clan into which he was born around the 6th century BCE in Lumbini, in present-day Nepal.

Born a prince, Siddhartha was raised in luxury and shielded from the harsh realities of life. However, upon encountering old age, sickness, and death for the first time, he was deeply moved and began a quest to understand the nature of suffering. At the age of 29, he renounced his royal life and embarked on a spiritual journey.
