Siddartha Gautam

Siddhartha Gautama, later known as Shakyamuni Buddha, was a prince of the Shakya clan in ancient Nepal, born around the 5th–4th century BCE. Despite his life of luxury, he was deeply moved by the realities of suffering after witnessing old age, sickness, and death. Determined to find a way to end suffering, he renounced his royal life and undertook intense meditation and ascetic practices. After years of seeking, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, becoming the Buddha, or "Awakened One." He spent the rest of his life teaching the Dharma—the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path—guiding countless beings toward liberation. His journey from prince to spiritual teacher exemplifies the transformative power of wisdom and compassion, inspiring millions worldwide.
