Shakyamuni Buddha

Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, was the historical founder of Buddhism and is revered as the “Awakened One.” Born in the 6th century BCE in Lumbini, present-day Nepal, he was a prince of the Shakya clan who lived a sheltered life until he encountered the realities of aging, illness, and death. These experiences led him to renounce his royal comforts and embark on a spiritual quest to understand and overcome suffering. After years of ascetic practices and deep meditation under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, India, he attained enlightenment at age 35, realizing the nature of existence and the path to liberation.
