Marpha Set

The trio are central figures in the Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, each playing a pivotal role in transmitting and preserving the teachings of the Buddha. Marpha, known as the "Great Translator," was responsible for bringing Buddhist texts from India to Tibet and translating them, laying the foundation for Tibetan Buddhism. His student, Milarepa, became one of Tibet’s most beloved yogis and poets, renowned for his ascetic life and devotion to meditation, reaching enlightenment in a single lifetime. Milarepa's teachings were passed on to Gampopa, who formalized the Kagyu monastic tradition and spread Milarepa's teachings widely, founding key monastic institutions. Together, these three masters represent the heart of the Kagyu lineage, embodying wisdom, devotion, and the direct transmission of enlightenment.
