Amitayus

Amitayus, the Buddha of Infinite Life, is a celestial aspect of Amitabha Buddha, revered in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism for his association with longevity, vitality, and merit. Radiant red and seated in serene meditation, Amitayus holds a golden vase filled with the nectar of immortality, symbolizing his power to extend life and remove obstacles to spiritual progress. His practice is especially prominent in Tibetan Buddhism, where rituals and visualizations invoking Amitayus are performed to promote long life, health, and the flourishing of wisdom, often dedicated to lamas, loved ones, or oneself. Amitayus represents the compassionate wish that all beings have the time and conditions necessary to attain enlightenment, making him a vital figure in both devotional and meditative traditions.
