Mandarava with Yeshe Tsogyal Statue | Copper Sculpture with 24K Fire Gold Gilding

Celebrate the divine feminine energy of Tibetan Buddhism with this Mandarava and Yeshe Tsogyal Statues set, exquisitely hand-carved by a master artisan in Nepal using the ancient lost-wax method. Devotees pray to Guru Rinpoche for protection, transformation, and the removal of obstacles on the path to enlightenment, and his consorts are honored as powerful dakinis who support and transmit his teachings. Crafted from copper and polished with a traditional gold amalgam of mercury and 24k gold & each statue undergoes a sacred fire gilding process that leaves a luminous and lasting layer of 24k fire gold gilded on copper. The statues feature hollow chambers for consecration, allowing practitioners to enshrine sacred relics or mantras. Mandarava and Yeshe Tsogyal, the two enlightened consorts of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), embody wisdom, compassion, and spiritual realization.

Mandarava and Yeshe Tsogyal

Mandarava, born a princess in the Indian kingdom of Zahor, renounced royal life at a young age to pursue the Dharma. Her deep devotion and spiritual maturity led her to become Padmasambhava’s first consort. Together, they attained the state of immortality and realization in the sacred Maratika Cave in Nepal. Mandarava is celebrated for her unwavering discipline, wisdom, and the inspiration she offered to hundreds of women who followed her into the Dharma.

Yeshe Tsogyal, often called the “Mother of Tibetan Buddhism,” was born in 8th-century Tibet and became Padmasambhava’s chief disciple and spiritual consort. She played a vital role in recording and preserving his teachings, many of which were hidden as termas (spiritual treasures) to be revealed in future generations. Her life is a testament to resilience, compassion, and enlightenment, and she is venerated as a female Buddha in her own right.
