Description

Set of 3 Buddha Statues | Three Buddhas of the Three Directions

This trinity set is handcrafted by artisans in Nepal using the traditional methods in pure copper, with each statue featuring a chemically oxidized patina. All three figures share refined gold-painted faces with serene expressions, gold-gilded monk's robes worked with repousse technique, ornate halos and oxidized lotus pedestals.

Shakyamuni Buddha, the historical Buddha, is depicted in the earth-touching mudra holding a begging bowl—symbolizing his moment of enlightenment. Medicine Buddha (Bhaisajyaguru) radiates a divine gaze while holding a healing bowl and myrobalan stem, embodying his role as healer of suffering. Amitabha Buddha is seated in Dhyana Mudra with an alms bowl, representing the meditation gesture and infinite compassion of Pure Land Buddhism.

Collectively, these three Buddhas represent the Three Buddhas of the Three Directions, traditionally placed horizontally across the main altar. Shakyamuni Buddha occupies the center, the historical founder representing our present Saha World. Amitabha Buddha sits to the right (West), presiding over the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Bhaisajyaguru is positioned to the left (East), the Buddha of Healing governing the Eastern Pure Land. Together they establish a complete cosmological framework within Buddhist practice. Crafted through generations-old Nepali techniques, each statue carries authentic iconographic precision.

About Three Buddha Set

Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, is the historical Buddha who founded Buddhism. Commonly portrayed, the right hand touches the earth in the "bhumisparsha mudra," symbolizing his moment of awakening under the Bodhi tree.

Amitabha Buddha, also known as the "Buddha of Infinite Light," symbolizes boundless compassion. He is the central figure in Pure Land Buddhism and represents the aspiration for rebirth in the Pure Land, a realm of peace and enlightenment.

Medicine Buddha, also called Bhaisajyaguru, is the "Buddha of Healing." He embodies physical and spiritual healing and relief from suffering. He holds a bowl of healing herbs in his left hand and the Myrobalan plant in his right, symbolizing his power to heal ailments and bring well-being.
