Amitabha Buddha

The Amitabha Buddha is essentially the representation of this Buddha of theirs as the Buddha of Infinite Light and Life, which is quite rightly the major conceptual center of Mahayana Buddhism, especially in Pure Land practices. As has been stated in the texts, Amitabha swore to build a Pure Land by the name of Sukhavati wherein beings would attain enlightenment unbothered by the sufferings of the samsara. Usually, this image is depicted on the face with peaceful marking while sitting in meditation, with hands formed in mudra signifying meditation or teaching. Amitabha usually shows up in the radiant halo signifying his enlightened state and his compassion to all sentient beings. His mantra, which has been recited by many practitioners seeking rebirth in the Pure Land of Amitabha, is "Namo Amitabha Buddha," emphasizing the belief that the sincere call is sufficient to save those who call upon him.
