Nidhiratna's Machig Labdron Statue Collection | The Fearless Mother of Chöd

While most spiritual paths instruct us to avoid what terrifies us, Machig Labdron chose to confront it directly. Handcrafted by master artisans in Nepal from hand-cast copper and brilliant gold gilding, each piece in this collection pays tribute to a goddess who transformed loss, death, and the ego into a foundation for true liberation. Explore our collection to bring her spirit of fearlessness into your daily practice.

The Legacy of Machig Labdron

Living from 1055 to 1149, Machig Labdron stands as one of the few prominent female masters in Tibetan Buddhism who achieved recognition completely independent of a male consort or teacher. Instead, she founded an entire lineage of practice known as Chöd. Born from intense retreat and profound realization, her method directly confronts the terror of mortality and suffering to dissolve the ego. To this day, her revolutionary teachings are deeply revered across both the Nyingma and Kagyu schools.

The Core Teaching: Severing the Ego

The practice of Chöd does not encourage practitioners to flee from adversity; it demands that they yield to it. During this meditation, one visualizes offering their own body and sense of self entirely to their deepest fears—whether that manifests as demons, loss, or death itself. The ritual does not destroy the physical self, but rather cuts through the psychological grip of attachment to it. What endures in the aftermath is boundless generosity, deep interconnectedness, and a profound, stable fearlessness.

Ideal Environments for Her Statue

Machig Labdron statues serve as a powerful anchor for deep internal work, making them ideal for:

  • Meditation & Altar Rooms: Serving as a visual guide and companion during Chöd and related deity practices.
  • Personal Altars: Providing strength and grounding for individuals navigating grief, anxiety, or major life transitions.
  • Study Spaces & Libraries: Honoring her historical and philosophical importance as one of Tibetan Buddhism’s premier female scholars.

Artisanal Collections & Customization

Every piece is individually crafted and meticulously finished by hand. We offer our statues across three distinct scales to fit the needs of your specific practice, maintaining the highest quality of detail regardless of size.

The Personal Altar Series

Compact statues perfectly proportioned for home altars or intimate meditation spaces. Though smaller in scale, they maintain the exact same facial expression and intricate robe detailing as our largest works.

The Heirloom Series

Mid-sized statues featuring richer details in the drapery and expression. These are frequently selected as meaningful gifts for teachers, spiritual peers, or to mark a pivotal moment in one's own spiritual journey.

The Temple & Collector’s Masterwork Series

Our grandest, most detailed statues tailored for public shrine rooms, Dharma centers, and serious collectors. The large scale allows every subtle line of her expression and fold of her robes to be fully realized.
