Simha Mukha

Simha Mukha, also known as Simhamukha or the Lion-Faced Dakini, is a powerful and wrathful wisdom deity in Tibetan Buddhism, particularly revered in the Nyingma tradition. She is considered an emanation of the enlightened feminine energy of Guhyajnana Dakini and sometimes associated with Mandarava, the consort of Padmasambhava. Depicted with a roaring lion’s head, flaming hair, and a fierce expression, Simha Mukha symbolizes fearless clarity, cutting through ignorance, obstacles, and harmful thoughts. She is often shown standing or dancing on a lotus base above a subdued human figure, holding ritual implements like a curved knife and a skull cup, representing the transformation of negative energies into wisdom and the protection of practitioners.
